看到“piping hot”，不仅想到新鲜出炉的麦当劳“派”家族 。“烫口吃”的代表嘛！—— 呈泡状的酥脆薄片嘶嘶作响，轻轻一咬，齿间是烫口的细腻，随即，水果馅的清香瞬时溢满口中…… 哦，这诱人的“热烫”！

形容食品的“烫”，用“hot”当然可以，不过，如果想让语言“形象生动”，不妨在“hot”前加上一个“piping”。“Piping hot”（烫口的）早在14世纪就进入英语词汇，尤用来形容刚烘制的糕点，当然，新沏的热茶，刚出炉的烤鸭或其它烫口食品都可用“piping hot”来形容。

注意了，这里的“piping”可不是指日用的“管道系统”。“Piping”取意于“管乐”，大概人们觉得烘焙糕点的“咝咝”声与笛音颇为相似。
