形容词wall-to-wall，字面意思是“墙到墙”。来源于房间内的地毯铺法：从一边的墙到另一边的墙，也就是铺满了整个房间。所以，这个形容词的原意就是“铺满整个地板的”（completely covering a floor）。如今，这个词应用到了生活的其他方面，可以表示“布满整个区域”（present or spreading throughout an entire area）。需要注意的是，既然整个作为一个形容词，三个单词之间的两个连字符就不要忘记写上。
